Breakout Sessions

1:50 pm to 2:30 pm (40 min)
Autonomous Manufacturing & the Post Industrial Revolution

This session presents the argument that, driven by Additive Manufacturing and Autonomous Machines (AM collectively), we are entering a new human epoch, where the rules and structures established during the previous Industrial Revolutions break down. The session will characterize the shift away from Industrial Revolution processes that is already underway, outline major challenges and opportunities, and present a picture of our AM future.

The session covers :

  1. Why and how AM will redefine our relationships across all aspects of human experience (the full ramifications, opportunities and shifts that are already in progress).
  2. How existing engineering data, design and test systems are completely inadequate and failing in the face of AM.
  3. Why education, value systems and innovation need to be completely rethought to deal with an AM future.
  4. Some solutions and suggestions towards an Additive Society and future.

Speaker : Turlif Vilbrandt
Place : Breakout Room 1

1:50 pm to 2:30 pm (40 min)
Conversation with Andreas de Leon of Hyperloop

Speaker : Andreas de Leon with Jonathan Knowles
Place : Main Stage

1:50 pm to 2:30 pm (40 min)
The Experience Machine: Building with Augmented and Virtual Reality

Spatial 3D computing interfaces like augmented and virtual reality can now provide real-time, hands-free, assisted instructions for technicians and manufacturing operators. These new digital tools are already reshaping the manufacturing procedures at companies like Lockheed Martin, Coca-Cola, Boeing, and more. By using these tools, businesses are seeing improved efficiencies, lower error rates, and higher worker engagement. In this workshop, participants will be guided through two specific AR use cases; remote See-what-I-See AR, and assisted AR instructions for assembly and training. Participants will identify their own applications for these AR tools.

Speaker : Aaron Frank
Place : Breakout Room 2

Digital technologies will continue to transform how we design and manufacture,

paving the way for exponential growth in Thailand. We step back to look at what Thailand has achieved so far, and look to the future to see where the biggest opportunities are with particular emphasis on process manufacturing and nanotechnologies. We also examine where the biggest managerial challenges lie, and how you, the audience, can be a part of the solution to bring the country’s manufacturing into a new era!
